About

Hello, I am Nathiola

And you’re on my website! Woohoo!

I’d describe myself as a creative from England, but primarily I’m an oil painter. You can find my gallery of oil paintings over on the ‘Gallery’ section as I’m sure you’ve figured out. However my body of work includes a plethora of other methods of creation, like video making, and animation, and writing.

I focused on painting in August 2024 because I needed to make a living, and while it’s fun to make videos and write and animate, doing all of them at once without a singular focus will likely prove difficult to do for a living. So i mostly paint now, and I treat art like I’m taking an academic scholarship from a french school of classical painting, that is; I try to treat my work objectively, not get too attached, and continue moving forwards and progressing by reading art books and learning from my peers and the masters above me. So far learning art this way has allowed me to exponentially improve my work, and I implore any new budding artists to do the same, it’s not even that difficult!

This is my website

Every artist at some point or another decides that they need a website. And to be honest the choices really overwhelmed me to begin with (how do i decide what company to choose?) Along with the fact I didn’t even know what to put on my website other than pictures of my paintings. One thing i was sure of however was; it needed to look like it had been ripped from the 90’s.

I feel like web design (and graphic design in general) has gotten boring recently. That’s just a personal taste, I understand that a lot of work still goes into designing things and I don’t want to discredit the work of modern designers simply because I miss what the internet used to be. But my lord do I miss the days of primitive internet. More specifically clunky personal websites that look like they were made by the hands of the individual. It made everything feel more homely, like it was made by real people and not invisible conglomerates.

Hence why this website and its design will be reminiscent of the ‘old’ internet, complete with its personal gifs, niche internet references, and low resolution images.

I’m always open to suggestions and help with things, if there’s any reason at all you need/want to contact me, there’s an email on the contact page. It’s also nice to know that someone’s just out there looking at things I upload.

Enjoy your stay here.
